Property For Sale in Albertinia, Western Cape
Albertinia is a South African town situated in the Garden Route and Karoo regions of the Western Cape, lying between the Indian Ocean in the South and the Langeberg mountain range in the North along the N2 route between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Albertinia is located at the foot of the Langeberg mountains and the region is a major wheat and sheep farming area. Albertinia offers property investors unpolluted, fresh air and a moderate climate. Albertinia is well situated with easy access to popular beaches and excellent angling spots.
The aloe factory at Albertinia is the largest single source of this raw material which is used in several medicines and skin-care products. The juice and gel of the Aloe Ferrox plant are extracted for pharmaceutical purposes.
Albertinia had its origin from the spiritual need of the farmers in the area and to establish an education institution. A portion of the farm Grootfontein was bought by the Dutch Reformed Church in 1902 from the widow Anna Sophia Louwrens. Mr Henry Stanford had already bought another portion of the farm in 1881 which was called Stanfords . This portion came in 1912 under the control of the Town's Management. Albertinia was named after Reverend J R Albertyn.
