Oranjezicht is a suburb of Cape Town situated within the Western Cape province of South Africa. Higgovale is a quiet suburb situated at the foot of Table Mountain. The suburb has a number of good eateries and is within easy reach of Table Mountain, the Cape Town city centre and the Atlantic Coast beaches.

Oranjezicht was built on the site of the old Oranjezicht farm. The farm used to stretch at least as far as the Mount Nelson Hotel and supplied the Cape Town Castle with fresh produce. Oranjezicht operated as a farm from the arrival of the first owner Peter van Breda in Cape Town in the early 18th century until over 200 years later.

In 1895 the Graaff Electric Lighting Works at Molteno Reservoir, Oranjezicht, was inaugurated, followed by the official switching on of the City’s first street lights from the Town House, Greenmarket Square. This is Cape Town municipality’s first power station.
